A crash map ranks busy roads, not dangerous ones. Chattanooga publishes crashes but no measure of how many vehicles use each road, so the biggest highways always top the list — they carry the most traffic.

This divides crashes by actual daily traffic volume from TDOT's count stations. The result inverts the picture: the roads that dominate a raw crash map turn out to be among the safest per vehicle, and the genuinely dangerous stretches are ordinary downtown streets nobody flags.
